Egypt is a desert. The Nile brings life to Egypt. It is amazing sitting on the cruise ship seeing tropical landscapes at the shore and a desert only a few feet back. In some areas there is irrigation that route the water farther inland. In other areas, you can really imagine what it must have been like in ancient times. We have seen quite a few housing areas that look like they have not changed in thousands of years.
