Cars

You hear that cars are much smaller than in the United States. It is true. There are some very small cars to be seen. Connor is taller than the car shown. However, we have also seen quite a few full size cars. Most cars on the street are not this small. For example, the police and emergency services drive BMW and Mercedes.

Changing of the Guards

The ceremony was much bigger than we expected. It involved lots of horses, bands, and some marching guards. We don't think it was the typical ceremony, but it was huge. Notice the mounted soldiers behind Mary and Connor.

This one is obvious

The name you know this by is not for the tower but the bell inside the tower.

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is the center of London. From here you can walk to most any of the main sights so see. I addition, there are lots of people, statues to climb on, and a regular protests. Remind us to tell you about the "Pants for Poverty" parade we saw.

Sleep deprevation ...

The following are pictures of us on the train from the airport to downtown. This is what people look like after an overnight flight and very little sleep. There is a mix of tired, excitement, and wondering, "How are we going to find our hotel?"

The flight ...

This is a picture of the plane we flew on. It is the largest plane any of us have been on before. When Connor found out he was riding on the top of a double decker plane, he said, what? Connor then said, this was the first time he heard about double decker planes, then said it was the first time he saw a double decker plane, and then he said it was the first time he ever rode on a double decker plane. Finally, he said it was the first time he ever rode on the top of a double decker plane. (Me too about the riding part!)

The longest day ever ...

Our day started normally on Friday in the USA as did most people reading this blog. I went to work, Mary and Connor got ready for the trip. Our flight left Orlando on Friday evening and did not land until Saturday Morning. We barely slept, if at all, on the plane, and decided to time shift right away. This meant not sleeping and just starting the day. We spent all day sightseeing and walking. After about 10 miles of walking, it was over. By 10:00 PM local time, we were all sleeping. We eventually woke up on Sunday and started more adventuring. We are now on local time!
